OLD TIME STRAWBERRY PRESERVES 
4 c. capped berries
4 c. sugar

Put 2 cups sugar in heavy pot and add 3/4 cup boiling water. Let boil until it spins a thread. Add the berries and remaining sugar and cook rapidly for 12 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from stove. Let cool (to prevent berries from floating). Seal. Makes 2 pints.

Can use cherries or blackberries and make by this method.
