UNSTUFFED CABBAGE 
2 lbs. green cabbage
1 lb. ground beef
1 egg
1/4 c. raw rice (not instant)
1/4 tsp. salt
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1/4 c. vinegar
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1 1/2 c. water

Cut cabbage in wedges or chunks and place in bottom of large Dutch oven. Mix tomatoes, tomato sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, lemon juice and water together. Cover and cook over medium high heat briefly.

Mix ground beef, egg, salt and uncooked rice together and make into meatballs (18-20 approximately). Place on top of cabbage mixture. Cover pot; lower heat and simmer gently for 2 1/2 hours. Freezes well. Yield: 6 servings.
