OLD FASHIONED AMERICAN CARAMELS 
3 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. corn syrup (dark)
2/3 c. butter
2 c. cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, syrup, butter and 1 cup of the cream; bring to boil. Add second cup of cream SLOWLY to keep mixture boiling. Remove from heat when it forms a crack ball. Add vanilla. Pour into well-buttered pan and cool. Cut in squares and serve or wrap separately. About 72 pieces.
