CARAMEL DUMPLINGS | |
1 1/2 c. sugar 1 tbsp. butter 2 c. boiling water DUMPLINGS: 1 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. milk 3 tsp. baking powder 1 c. flour Melt 1 cup sugar in frying pan until light brown in color. Add to boiling water. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add remaining sugar. Add butter and bring to boiling point (or just use brown sugar instead of white and put in deep pan in which to cook the dumplings). Dumplings: Add enough more flour to make a batter. Drop by tablespoonfuls into boiling syrup. Cover and let boil until done. Serve with or without cream. |
