MARGIE'S PEACH CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. grated lemon rind
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
4 fresh peaches
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. chopped walnuts; optional

Cream butter with sugar and beat well. Beat in eggs and lemon rind. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; mix into batter. Spread half the batter over the bottom of a buttered 8 inch square or round pan. Peel, pit and slice peaches; arrange over the top of batter. Top with remaining batter, spreading with knife to cover. Combine sugar, cinnamon, and nuts and sprinkle over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Serves 6-8.
