CHEESE CASSEROLE 
1/4 c. butter
6 slices bread, no crusts
6 thick slices, Edam or Gouda cheese
2 eggs
1 c. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
Pinch nutmeg

Butter a 1 quart casserole and butter bread. Arrange in casserole overlapping slightly. Top with cheese slices. Beat eggs with milk, add salt and nutmeg. Pour over bread and cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes until golden and puffed.
