IRISH RAG CAKE 
1 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. sugar
5 eggs, beaten one at a time

Sift together: 3 c. flour 2 tsp. vanilla 1 c. milk

Cream shortening, add eggs one at a time. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Beat 2 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brow. Makes three 9 inch layers.
