AUNT LAURA'S OPERA FUDGE 
1/4 lb. butter
1 pint heavy cream
3 1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook over medium heat to a soft ball stage (234°F to 240°F on a Candy Thermometer), stirring continually. Then pour on a platter. When cool, add vanilla and work until creamy.
