APRICOT DREAM BARS 
2/3 c. dried apricots
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1 1/3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 eggs
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Confectioners' sugar
Dates, prunes or other dried fruits may be used in place of apricots (if so desired)

Rinse apricots. Cover with water and boil 10 minutes. Drain, cool and chop. Combine butter, granulated sugar and 1 cup flour and blend together until crumbly. Pack into bottom of greased 8 inch square pan. Bake in moderate oven at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, until lightly browned.

Beat eggs and gradually beat in brown sugar. Sift remaining 1/3 cup flour with baking powder and salt. Stir into egg and sugar mixture. Blend in vanilla, nuts and apricots. Spread over baked layer. Bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes longer. Cool. Cut into bars and roll in confectioners' sugar. Makes 32 bars (1 x 2 inches) in size.
