MARASCHINO CHERRY CAKE | |
4 c. cake flour 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 3/4 c. shortening (butter) 2 1/4 c. sugar 1 1/2 c. milk 1/4 c. maraschino juice 1/4 c. cut up cherries 1 tsp. vanilla 4 egg whites Sift dry ingredients (flour), baking powder and salt. Cream shortening then add sugar and part of milk and whites of eggs (one white at a time), when all the eggs have been added and creamed then put in small amounts of flour and remaining milk which is 1 cup- alternate flour, milk and scrape bowl. Last add vanilla and 1/4 cup cherry juice and cut up cherries. Bake in 3 (9 inch) pans or large size tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees if in tube pan test at 3/4 of hour or if in 9 inch pans 30 minutes. |
