SPLIT PEA SOUP 
1 lb. split peas
2 onions
2 cloves garlic
1 carrot, diced
5 potatoes
Ham bone and ham cut in pieces
1/2 c. barley (or more if desired)
Salt and pepper to taste

Cook ham, onions, garlic and carrot for 20 minutes. Add peas and cook 30 minutes more. Add barley, salt and pepper. Cook 30 minutes more. Stir often. Add potatoes, diced and cook until done. Use 10 quart pot.
