1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. applesauce
1/2 c. cold coffee
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Mix together shortening, brown sugar, and eggs. Add the cold coffee and applesauce, stir. Add the remaining ingredients, mixing well.

Chill 1 hour. Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake 9-12 minutes at 400 degrees.
