APPLESAUCE JUMBLES 
2 3/4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. applesauce
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1 pkg. (6 oz.) Nestles semi-sweet chocolate morsels
Browned butter glaze (below)

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix all ingredients except glaze thoroughly. Drop dough by level tablespoons 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes or until almost no imprint remains when touched with finger. Immediately remove from baking sheet. Cool. Spread with browned butter glaze. 4 1/2 to 5 dozen cookies.

BROWNED BUTTER GLAZE:

Heat 1/3 cup butter over low heat until golden brown. Remove from heat; blend in 2 cups confectioners' sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla. Stir in 2-4 tablespoons hot water until of spreading consistency.
