SASSAFRAS TEA 
4 qt. water
6 or 8 (4 to 6 inch) sassafras roots

Dig roots in fall and early spring. Wash good and boil 45 minutes. Strain thoroughly through cheesecloth. Sweeten to taste.

This was one of the most important medicines back in olden times. The sassafras tree has beautiful bright colored leaves in the Fall.
