FRUIT COCKTAIL CAKE | |
2 eggs 1 1/2 c. white sugar 2 c. flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1 (No. 303) can fruit cocktail (juice & all) 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. chopped nuts Mix eggs with white sugar. Set aside. Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg. Add to sugar and egg mixture with fruit cocktail, juice and all. Pour into greased pan. Mix brown sugar and chopped nuts, sprinkle over batter. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Make sauce while cake is baking. SAUCE: 1/2 c. white sugar 2/3 c. milk 1 stick butter 1 tsp. vanilla Boil for 2 minutes; pour over cake while still warm, but not hot. |
