BUTTERCREAM FROSTING 
1 lb. confectioners' sugar
1/4 lb. (1/2 c.) soft butter
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3-4 tbsp. milk

Cream 1/3 of confectioners' sugar with butter and salt in large bowl. Blend extract and 2 tablespoons milk and remaining confectioners' sugar to mixture. Gradually stir remaining milk into frosting until desired spreading consistency is reached. Yield: frosting for two 9-inch round layers.
