1/2 c. soft shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder

Cream shortening and peanut butter. Add sugars and beat until light and fluffy. Add egg, vanilla and dry ingredients. Mix until smooth. Form level tablespoons of dough into balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press crosswise with fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes 3 dozen.
