APPLE COBBLER 
5 c. sliced apples
1 1/4 c. sugar
Flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. softened butter
1 egg, slightly beaten

Combine apples, 3/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon salt and vanilla in mixing bowl. Add 1/4 cup water; mix well.

Pour into 9" square baking dish or Dutch oven, dot with butter.

Combine 1/2 cup sifted flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, remaining salt, butter and egg in bowl. Beat with wooden spoon until smooth. Drop batter in 9 portions over apples, spacing evenly.

Bake in Dutch oven for 35 to 40 minutes until apples are fork tender and crust golden brown. It can also be baked in the oven at 350°F.

Serves 6.
