CRUMB COFFEE CAKE WITH CHEESE
FILLING
 
Batter:

3 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 c. butter
1/2 pt. sour cream
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda

Filling:

1 lb. softened cream cheese
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg

Topping:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/3 c. butter

Dough: Cream butter and sugar together, then add egg, vanilla and sour cream. Stir in dry ingredients. Spread half of batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Dough will be sticky.

Filling: Mix filling ingredients together. Place over top of dough in pan. Drop remaining dough mixture over cheese mixture with a teaspoon. Dough will spread evenly during baking.

Topping: Cut together as for a pie crust. Sprinkle on top of dough. Add nuts, if desired.

Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
