ALMOND AND BUTTER CAKE 
1/2 c. butter, 1 stick
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. slivered almonds
3/4 c. milk

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 10 3/4 x 7 inch (preferred) or 9- inch square cake pan. Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and almond extract; beat until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add alternately with milk, beating well to make batter. Stir in almonds. Turn into cake pan; bake 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool; glaze; top with more almonds if desired. Serve.
