Mix together butter and sugar; beat light and fluffy. Add eggs and stir in well. Add flour on low speed. Pour 7-Up into butter slowly until all is well blended. Add vanilla extract. Stir well. Pour into greased and floured tube pan. Bake approximately 1 hour or more. Check cake with toothpick to see if done.
