SOFT PRETZELS | |
1 cake yeast 1 1/2 c. warm water 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 4 c. flour 1 egg, beaten Coarse salt In a bowl, dissolve 1 cake yeast (dry or compressed) in warm water. Add sugar and salt and stir until dissolved. Blend in flour, 1 cup at a time. Knead dough until smooth. Cut off small pieces of dough and roll into ropes about 1/4 inch in diameter. Twist ropes into traditional shapes (flip bottom half). Arrange on cookie sheet lined with paper. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. |
