2 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. soft butter
Sift flour with sugar. Cut in butter, using electric mixer at lowest speed or pastry blender, to form a dough. Divide dough in half. Shape into two balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and flatten into 7-inch circles, about 1/2 inch thick. Flute to form a scalloped edged. With a fork, prick lines across circles, outlining 12 wedges on each. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, until delicately brown. While warm, cut along pricks part way through. Cool. Break into wedges.
