CORN CAKE OR CORNBREAD 
1 egg
1 1/8 c. milk
1/4 c. sifted flour
2 tbsp. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. soft shortening
1 1/4 c. cornmeal

Beat the egg, milk and shortening, mix dry ingredients and sift in together, mix. Pour or spoon into greased, hot pan of muffin pan. Bake in 450 degree oven, 10-15 minutes for corn sticks or muffins; 20-25 minutes for cornbread.
