CREAM OF WILD RICE SOUP 
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 1/2 tbsp. flour
2 c. water
2 c. chicken broth
2 c. milk
1 pkg. (6 1/4 oz.) Uncle Bens fast cooking long grain and wild rice
1/4 tsp. crushed thyme (optional)

Melt butter in 3 quart sauce pan. Add onion and cook until tender, but not brown. Stir in flour. Gradually stir in water, broth and milk. Add contents of rice package and thyme. Stir. Bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Variations; add chunks of chicken or turkey, fresh or frozen peas.
