CHEWY CRANBERRY GINGERS 
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
1/2 c. whole cranberry sauce, cooked or canned

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In large bowl combine all ingredients except cranberries. Blend well. Stir in cranberries mix thoroughly. Chill dough at least 1 hour. Shape into balls using rounded teaspoon. Coat with additional sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet immediately. Yields: 60 to 66 cookies.
