OLD FASHIONED RAISIN BREAD PUDDING | |
6 slices raisin bread 2 c. milk 2 tbsp. butter 2 eggs 1/4 c. sugar 2 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. salt Nutmeg or cinnamon sugar Slice raisin bread into 3/4 inch pieces; place in shallow, buttered 1 quart baking dish; set aside. Heat milk, with butter until hot and butter is melted (do not allow mixture to boil). Beat eggs with sugar, vanilla and salt. Add hot milk mixture, stirring constantly, pour over bread. Allow to stand 5 minutes. Sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon sugar. Set baking dish in pan with hot water to half the depth of dish. Bake uncovered, at 350 degrees about 50 minutes; or until custard is set. Serve warm or cold. Makes 4 to 6 servings. |
