PRUNE CAKE AND SAUCE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. all spice
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. prunes, chopped and cooked
1 c. pecans, chopped

Combine sugar, oil, and eggs. Beat on medium speed for 1 minute. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and set aside. Combine flour and spices; add to sugar mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well after each addition. Stir in vanilla, prunes and pecans. Pour batter into a greased 13 x 9 x 2 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. cool.

SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. + 1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. corn syrup (light)
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine in a medium sauce pan. Bring to a boil. Boil for 1 minute or until sugar dissolves. Pour over the cake while sauce is hot.
