CHERRY NUT BREAD 
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. maraschino cherry juice
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped, drained maraschino cherries

Combine all ingredients except cherries in a large mixing bowl. Blend on low speed 15 seconds; increase to medium speed and blend 30 seconds. Stir in cherries. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9"x5"x3" loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Cool 10 minutes in pan. Remove to wire rack and cool completely. Top with glaze.

GLAZE:

1 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. maraschino cherry juice
2 tbsp. buttermilk

Mix until smooth. Drizzle over bread.
