2/3 c. butter
1 1/3 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 c. canned applesauce
1/2 c. milk
4 c. sifted all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/3 c. chopped nuts
2/3 c. maraschino cherries, chopped

Cream together butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time, beating after each. Stir in applesauce and milk. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Add nuts and drained cherries. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans and bake in 350 degrees oven for 1 hour. Remove from pans; cool before slicing. Makes 2 loaves.
