SOFT PRETZELS 
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 1/3 c. warm (not hot) water
1 tbsp. sugar
3 1/2-4 c. flour, unsifted
1 egg
1 tbsp. water
2 tbsp. coarse salt

Beat egg and water together and set aside.

In large bowl pour in warm water. Sprinkle yeast into water and stir until dissolved. Once dissolved, add sugar and 3 1/2 cups flour, stirring until a sticky dough forms.

Turn dough onto floured board (with remaining flour) and knead for 5-7 minutes, until dough is smooth and not sticky. Cut or pull apart dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll on board or between hands into 12-15 inch "snakes", form into pretzel shapes on greased cookie sheet.

Brush with egg "wash". Sprinkle with salt. Bake 15 minutes in 425 degree oven or until golden brown.
