AMANDA'S QUICK AND EASY HOMEMADE APPLESAUCE | |
This is a great recipe because you can do your laundry and make apple sauce at the same time! You may use either store bought apples or freshly picked though freshly picked is the best! 1 lb. apples cinnamon nutmeg pumpkin spice about 1 cup of water 1 big pot (canning pots work great) 1 cup sugar OK so you are going to peel your apples, core them and it easiest to cut the apple into small thin chunks (it helps the apples boil down faster). After this is done and you have disposed of the icky stuff (the core and such, and if you have pigs or your neighbors have pigs they will love the icky stuff leftover so give them a treat! or put it in your composter), throw your little thinly cut apple chunks in your pot. Your heating element should be on medium heat. Put water in the pot. Add sugar, sprinkle as much of the cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin spice as you wish. Don't forget to stir this mixture! Stir occasionally. It takes about 20 minutes, be careful not to burn it. Once it's cooked you can either put it in bottles to give to friends and family or you can put it in bowls to serve either with pork chops or just as dessert! Don't forget to enjoy!
