BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. baking soda mixed in 1 c. buttermilk

Combine first six ingredients in mixing bowl. Add buttermilk and soda. Make into dough. Knead lightly, roll out on floured board and cut with biscuit cutter. Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes.
