BEEF AND ONIONS IN ALE | |
4 lbs. lean beef, cubed 1/2 to 3/4 c. flour 1 tbsp. salt 1/2 c. butter 6 lg. onions, thinly sliced 1 (12 oz.) can beer The day before, de-fat and cut beef into bite size cubes. Coat with flour and brown in butter. Set aside. Brown onions in butter; add more butter if necessary. In a baking dish, layer beef and onions. Sprinkle on salt and pepper. Pour beer over all. Cover and bake 2 hours at 350 degrees. Add more beer or water if needed. Cool and refrigerate. When ready to serve, reheat at 300 degrees. Serve over rice pilaf. Serves 8. |
