CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening or lard
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Heat oven to 375 degrees, mix butter, shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla thoroughly on low speed for about 1 minute. Then whip on high speed for 2 minutes. Reduce speed to low and add soda and salt. Slowly add 1 cup of flour at a time, until all 3 cups are in. Blend thoroughly. Stir in chocolate chips. Do not use mixer. Drop by teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cookies should still be soft.
