UPSIDE-DOWN APPLE TART | |
1/4 c. butter 1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1 tbsp. light corn syrup 1 tbsp. lemon juice 2 lg. cooking apples, such as Granny Smith 1 stick packaged pie dough mix Ice cream (optional) Place butter in 9-inch glass pie plate. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place pie plate in oven until butter is melted. Remove from oven; stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and lemon juice. Core apples; cut into slices. Arrange slices over brown sugar mixture in circular pattern. Prepare pie dough according to package directions. Roll dough into a round 1/4-inch thick. Drape over apples, tucking sides in around apples. Bake tart at 30 to 35 minutes, until crust is golden brown. Remove from oven and cool 5 minutes. Invert tart onto serving plate. Serve with ice cream, if desired. Makes 6 servings. |
