GRANDMA'S POTATO ROLLS
1/2 pt. cream and sweet milk
1/2 pt. potato water
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening or butter
1 egg
1 pkg. yeast
5 1/2 c. flour

To make potato water, cook 1 potato in water and run through sieve. I save my potato water when I fix mashed potatoes for dinner. I put 1/2 c.up mashed potatoes and enough potato water to make 1 cup. Put milk, potato mixture, salt and shortening in microwaveable dish, heat for 1 minute or until mixture is lukewarm. Soften yeast in 3 tablespoons warm water and 1 tablespoon sugar. Let set until yeast starts to work. Add beaten egg and yeast to cooled mixture. Add flour; 1 cup at a time, until mixture is stiff enough to handle. Put remaining flour on table and knead well. Let rise twice. Punch down and make into rolls. Place roll into greased 9 x 13 pan and let rise again. Bake at 350 degrees until when tapped lightly in center sounds hollow.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
