MY MOTHER-IN-LAW'S ORANGE BISCUITS | |
2 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. sugar 1/4 c. orange juice 4 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. grated orange rind 2/3 c. milk 12 cubes sugar Sift flour once and measure. Add baking powder, salt and sugar; sift again. Cut in shortening and orange rind. Add milk gradually until soft dough is formed. Roll 1" thick on slightly floured board. Cut with small, floured biscuit cutter. On top of each biscuit, place 1/2 cube of sugar that has been dipped in orange juice. Bake in 400 degree oven for 15 minutes. Makes 24 biscuits. (Make an extra batch as the first batch will go fast.) |
