MAPLE OATMEAL MUFFINS 
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. uncooked quick or old fashioned oatmeal
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. maple syrup

Sift together flour, sugar and baking powder. Cut in shortening until crumb like. Stir in oats. Add egg, milk and syrup. Stir ingredients only until all are moistened. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 400 degrees for 18-20 minutes.

Frost with glaze.

GLAZE:

1 tbsp. soft butter
1 tbsp. maple syrup
1/4 c. powdered sugar

Beat well and drizzle over hot muffins.
