SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES 
1 tsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. instant coffee
1 tsp. cloves

Combine all ingredients. Gradually blend in 1 cup sugar and 1 cup molasses. Beat in 1 large egg. Add 4 3/4 cups flour alternately with 3/4 cup milk or water. Beat for 30 seconds.

Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Walnuts or raisins may be pressed in the centers. Bake 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees or until barely a dent remains when pressed with a finger.
