RICH SHORTCAKE BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 well beaten egg
1/2 c. milk

Sift dry ingredients; cut in shortening until mixture is like coarse crumbs. Add combined egg and milk, stirring until just moistened. Turn out on slightly floured surface. Cut into biscuits. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes. Split; spread with butter and fresh fruit.
