1/4 c. butter 1/2 c. sugar 2 egg yolks 1 whole egg, beaten 2 tsp. ground cardamom 1/4 c. heavy cream or undiluted evaporated milk 2 c. flour 1 c. cornstarch 1 tsp. baking soda Cream butter and sugar until sugar crystals disappear. Beat in egg yolks, egg and cardamom. Beat in cream. Sift together flour, cornstarch, baking soda. Add to batter and mix thoroughly. On lightly floured board, roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut dough into pieces, 1x2 inches. In each piece, about 3/4 from each end, make a crosswise cut about the width of the dough. Pull both ends to make a curve, so cuts open a little. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Yield: 3 dozen. |
