SHOOFLY PIE 
2 unbaked pie shells
3/4 c. molasses
1/4 c. hot water
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 c. molasses
1 c. warm milk
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Mix well egg and 3/4 cup molasses. Mix in hot water and pour into pie shells. Mix flour, brown sugar and Crisco. Reserve 1/2 cup of this mixture for sprinkling on top of pies. Heat milk and 1/2 cup molasses, add baking soda. Add to crumb mixture and mix. Spoon into pie shells and sprinkle crumbs on top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes or until crusts turn brown.
