PEPPERED CHEESE BISCUITS | |
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. ground red pepper 2 tbsp. grated Romano cheese 2/3 c. nonfat buttermilk 2 tbsp. vegetable oil 1 tbsp. all-purpose flour Vegetable cooking spray Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl; make a well in center of mixture. Combine buttermilk and oil; add to flour mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon flour evenly over work surface. Turn dough out onto floured surface, and knead 3 or 4 times. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness; cut with a 1 1/2 inch biscuit cutter. Place rounds on an ungreased baking sheet; lightly coat tops with cooking spray. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden. Makes 2 1/2 dozen. |
