FLO'S HUSH PUPPIES | |
2 c. cornmeal 1 c. milk 2 c. vegetable shortening 1 lg. egg 1/4 c. finely chopped onion 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder Dash of cayenne pepper 1 sm. minced garlic Mix together all dry ingredients, including onion. Make a well in the center, drop in egg, stir in milk and blend well to make a smooth batter. Allow to sit for 2 minutes. Form into teaspoon size balls. Using a deep heavy skillet, heat shortening. Drop batter into hot pan and fry until golden brown. Drain puppies on paper towel when fully cooked. Serve immediately. |
