PICKLED FIGS 
10 lb. figs
5 lb. sugar
1 1/3 pt. cider vinegar
2 sticks cinnamon
2 tsp. ground cloves
1 pt. water

Soak figs overnight in enough water to cover figs; add 1/2 cup soda on the first night. On the second day drain and peel figs. Add all ingredients and cook 30 minutes. Let stand overnight. On the third day reheat for 5 minutes and pack in sterilized jars and seal.
