ITALIAN CHOCOLATE COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
5 c. flour
5 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. cocoa
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. nutmeg
1 tbsp. cloves
1 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 1/2 c. chocolate chips

Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla, then add dry ingredients and spices. Mix and add nuts and chips. Roll dough into round balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Dip fingers in oil and put on palm of hand to roll easier. Dough may be sticky. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes 8 dozen.

FROSTING:

1 lb. confectioners sugar
1/2 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Mix until spreading consistency. May need to add water. Frost and use sprinkles.
