TOMATO RELISH 
1 peck ripe tomatoes (scald & peel)
1 doz. med. onions
6 to 8 bell peppers
3 c. sugar
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. turmeric
1 tbsp. celery seed
1 tbsp. black pepper
2 tbsp. salt
1 qt. vinegar

Mix chopped tomatoes, onions and peppers. Sprinkle with salt. Cook until some of juice has boiled down. Add remaining ingredients, cook slowly, stirring often, until thick (about 2 hours). Good with fried fish.
