SEVEN LAYER SALAD 
1 sm. head lettuce, shredded
3/4 c. finely chopped celery
1/3 c. green pepper, finely chopped
8 canned, sliced water chestnuts
1/4 c. finely chopped red onion
10 oz. pkg. frozen peas, uncooked
1 tomato, cut into wedges
2 c. mayonnaise
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 lb. bacon, cooked & crumbled
1 1/2 c. grated Romano cheese
1 hard cooked egg

Layer first 6 ingredients in large salad bowl in order given above. Combine mayonnaise and sugar and spread over salad vegetables to cover. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover with plastic wrap and chill overnight or at least 8 hours. Garnish before serving with egg, bacon and tomato. Do not toss. Serves 6 to 8.
