KANSAS 24 HOUR LAYER SALAD 
1 head lettuce
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/2 red pepper, chopped
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. Spanish onion, chopped
1/2 pkg. FROZEN peas
1 1/2 c. mayonnaise
2 tbsp. sugar
8 slices bacon fried crisp
4 oz. Cheddar cheese, grated

Line 13x9 inch glass dish with bite size pieces of lettuce. Over this sprinkle the green and red peppers. Add layer of celery and onions. Next add frozen peas, uncooked. Add sugar to mayonnaise and spread on top. Sprinkle cheese, then crumbled bacon. Cover and refrigerate overnight. DO NOT MIX.

I was given this recipe years ago and was thrilled to find it online. It is a delicious and very popular as a potluck salad contribution. In a pinch you can make it a few hours before and it's still delicious.
